I have not been able to contact Nico yet so hopefully everything is ok, there is widespread power outages in the country so I image Internet is a hot commodity as well. I know he lives in Santiago and the quake was pretty far away from there but I also know he has not been home and has been away on vacation but I just don't know the geography of the country to know where he is/was in relation to the quake.
I am not too worried but I will be relieved when he checks in and lets us know everything is cool.

I should say, the 'epicentre' was like 350 miles away from Santiago but there is still a lot of damage in Santiago itself.

I'm not too worried about Nicolas, either. I think he's physically ok. With a natural disaster such as an earthquake of that magnitude will get someone away from the entertainment that comes with the internet and just leave the focus squarely on his friends, family and anyone else in between.
In any event, I wish everyone there the best in the days, weeks and months to come.

I'm fine guys, thanks for worrying about me. I really appreciate it.
By the way, now that I'm on vacations I'm at parents house which is closer to the epicenter. It was 8,3 magnitud in my city.
I'm not at home now, there are power outages there and there's no potable water for now.
For that reason I hadn't watched any tv nor image for the earthquake till now. I'm really devastated after seeing how places I've visited before a completely destroyed after the tsunami.

In Chile we are used to this kind of seismic moves. We are a seismic country, but this earthquake was the biggest one since 1960 (Valdivia's earthquake (Chile), the most powerful earthquake in human history).
8,9 magnitude in the epicenter, 8,3 where I live.
Just imagine, this earthquake was 500 times more powerful than in Hati
