Edit: Sorry, no idea why I wrote Addition instead of Edition. 5am fever!
I experienced something hilarious the other week while staying in a filthy cheap backpackers hostel in Kota Kinabalu, Borneo. I had to get out of bed at 3am for a morning flight, and while I was waiting for the taxi I sat with a group of Malays who were watching a pirated copy of Transformers 3.
I was still in a sleepy daze and googling Miss Fox, whereas the Malaysians were laughing out loud at each and every line. I realised they were reading the English subtitles but the words were completely wrong. I've heard of Spanglish, Chingrish, and other such languages, but on this night I discovered Malaygrish! It was hilarious!
Each line couldn't have been more wrong. For example "Deceptions mobilize, it is time" had become "Disinfectant, hotel give me chicken", and "Bee, I want to talk to you about the college thing, okay?" had become "B let me tennis you Rodger fly boy".
It really was that crazy. It seemed to make perfect sense to the Malaysians, but for me it was baffling. I couldn't take in the film as I was studying the subtitles so much. The only footage I saw of the film was of Megan Fox. Everything else is a blur.
