Looks like it pulled in a paltry 6.8 millions for the weekend – big disappointment for Megan I am sure. I wonder why it bombed? I know people were getting sick of seeing SO MANY commercials.
At first they marketed it as a horror film but every interview I saw last week from Megan and other cast and crew claimed it was more of a comedy – maybe they should have figured out what to market the movie as? Perhaps the R rating had something to do with it.
Anyone have any thoughts? I have not seen it yet but most people who have stopped by the site said it was decent.

The people who have seen it seemed to have really enjoyed it. I always got more of cult vibe from it anyways.
And as for reasons, I'm not too sure, perhaps the R rating & I heard some blogger say it was the type of movie you would watch from home instead. Who knows really.
I highly doubt it will have a negative effect on Megan's career as she seems to come off very well in reviews, the movie was never gonna be a blockbuster, as I said a cult sorta movie.

I watch few movies at the theatre, but when we went to the theatre to see "Jennifer's Body", the attendance for all the movies was very poor. Maybe the economy didn't help? Her movie is a bit of a cult film and I think it'll grow in popularity in time.

I think there are 2 facts:
1.- There are many high school movies and people dont want to see more of them.
2.- Comedy-Horror is not a popular genre of movies.

Life is 3 days. 1 to meet you, the 2nd to love you, the 3rd to die. 1 month to involve, 1 year to suffer, more than a life to forget you…

i'm agreeing with the cult film reason. everyone i know said they wanted to wait until it was out on dvd (i went to the theater though!). it has more of a "Heathers" kind of feel. i believe even Megan said this herself. :-)

The analysts say there are 2 main reasons:
The first, says box-office analyst Jeff Bock of Exhibitor Relations, was the genre. Americans get horror. They get comedy. But the idea of those two things together in one place, people suddenly get very dumb.
"The horror-comedy genre is the toughest sell in Hollywood," Bock says, noting flicks like Tremors, Slither, Shaun of the Dead, Eight Legged Freaks and the Evil Dead series.
Many of those are considered critical and business successes, but none of them have brought in the megabucks that a simple horror or comedy can, Bock says. (The Scream franchise, for the record, counts more as straight-up horror for folks like Bock.)
The second box-office killer for Jennifer's Body was its rating, Bock tells me. Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried in a flick set in high school—it sounds like the perfect package for teens. Except the R rating banned many teens from the theaters.
I dont think so. When i wasnt a real fan ( just thought she was another hot hollywood star) i watched the first Transformers just to see that hot girl. Then i got crush on Megan and i started to look for info about her. And there, all began.

I think its a rare though. People turned out for transformers because it was transformers and a hot girl. But mostly because it was transformers. I think people didnt turn out for this one cause they really didnt care much for her. The ones who did go see it and plan on seeing are the ones who really like Megan fox.

Yes it is hard for me to gauge it, most of my friends, family and co-workers know that I run this site so even they are more aware of her than the average person.. I think a lot of people DO know her now though, she's been on all the big talk shows and hosting SNL will be big as well.
But yeah, just knowing WHO she is (the hot girl from transformers) is probably not enough to make you go pay to see her. I'll be honest, I didn't go see it and that is mainly because I don't know anyone who really wants to go with me lol.
I don't know if she is destined to be just another average actress who has smaller roles in lots of movies or if she will be able to pull in box office numbers like Angelina Jolie, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Anisten, Reese Witherspoon, etc.. – those actresses are practically guaranteed box office gold.
To be fair though, this is really her first big role where she was prominently featured in the marketing and she is still young so only time will tell I suppose.

I have friends to go with to see the movie next month, but i'm going to see it alone because it is something i don't want to share with the people. It's something private for me, it's is more than a movie.
